About the stadium

The Estadio de Mestalla, in Valencia, is one of the historic grounds of Spanish football. Opened in 1923, it is the oldest stadium still in use in LaLiga. It is the home of Valencia CF, a club founded in 1919. Built originally for 17,000 spectators, it now holds around 49,000, in a ground known for the steep rake of its stands and the intensity of its atmosphere.

Located on the Avenida de Suecia, close to the city centre and the Turia gardens, Mestalla has a century of history behind it: damaged during the Civil War and again by the great flood of 1957, it has been rebuilt and modernised several times, most notably for the 1982 World Cup and the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.

While its successor, Nou Mestalla, is now scheduled to open in 2027, the current ground remains a fixed point of reference for Valencian football.

Visitors can explore Valencia CF from the inside through the Mestalla Forever Tour, a guided visit of around one hour that gives access to the dressing rooms, the press room, the chapel where players gather before matches, and the pitchside area. The tour runs almost year-round, every day except 1 January, 6 January, and 25 December.
