About the stadium

The Red Bull Arena opened in 2004 and has been home to RB Leipzig since 2010. It sits on the site of the former Zentralstadion, a ground built between 1954 and 1956 that could hold up to 110,000 spectators. The new stadium was built directly inside this older structure, whose massive concrete ramparts are still visible today.

The Red Bull Arena is a few minutes from Leipzig's city center. It hosted matches at the 2005 Confederations Cup and the 2006 World Cup before becoming the home of the Roten Bullen.

With a maximum capacity of 47,800 in the Bundesliga (45,228 in European competitions), the Red Bull Arena is among the largest grounds in German football. It has close to 15,000 standing places. The famous Sector B, Leipzig's kop, can hold up to 10,500 supporters. The current attendance record is 47,069 spectators, reached on several occasions, including the 2022 DFB-Pokal semi-final against Union Berlin.

From promotion to the Bundesliga to the Champions League, RB Leipzig's rise has gone hand in hand with the steady modernization of the Red Bull Arena. After the club bought the ground in 2016, major expansion work began in 2019 to increase capacity and update the facilities. Supporters now have new entrances, completely redesigned signage, extra food and drink outlets, a larger official store, digital tickets, and cashless payment throughout the stadium. The old blue seats have also been replaced with red and white seats in the club's colors.

The guided tour of the Red Bull Arena gives visitors access to the main areas normally reserved for players and officials. The 60-minute option covers the press conference room, the players' tunnels, the mixed zone, the first-team dressing room, the pitchside area, and the view from level 9. The 90-minute tour adds RB Leipzig's Wall of Fame, the VIP areas, and Sector B.

Tours in English are offered on certain dates. The club also runs several special formats during the season: the Matchday Tour before matches, the Warm-up Tour with pitchside access during the warm-up, a night tour focused on the technical installations, and the "Legends" tours. These end with a meeting with a former club great.

The stadium is easy to reach by tram (Sportforum stop), about 400 meters from the ground, or on foot from Leipzig's central station.

The stadium is brilliant. But there is not enough toilet for men. Between the first and the second half there was war and fight to enter, after some beers.

Watching a Bundesliga match at the stadium was a great experience. The atmosphere was very exciting, with fans singing and cheering all the time. It felt much more intense than watching on TV. Everything was well organized, and I felt comfortable and safe during the event. It is definitely worth experiencing for anyone who enjoys football.

It’s an amazing stadium, I took in advance an Airbnb around 20 minutes away. Reserved the tickets in advance. I really enjoyed every minute of the game, their supporters have positive vibes, even though they were loosing, they have not stopped chanting for the whole match. The lights were spectacular, the seats were amazing, the stadium was very clean. The toilets were acceptable in reference to the amount of people using them. I definitely recommend to try out a game. The food was acceptable, but the wait was long.
