About the stadium

Abanca Balaídos has been home to Celta Vigo since 1928. Located in the Lavadores district, the stadium has changed considerably over the decades: it opened with a running track and modest stands, then underwent successive rebuilds, including ahead of the 1982 World Cup, when it hosted three matches played by the Squadra Azzurra.

Since 2015, Balaídos has been going through a phased renovation: stands moved closer to the pitch, a new roof, an undulating blue-wave façade, and the complete reconstruction of the Marcador, Río, and Tribuna stands. Work on the Gol end is still ongoing. The current capacity sits at around 31,800 seats.

The stadium offers guided tours covering the RC Celta museum, dressing rooms, tunnel, pitchside area, press room, and a virtual reality experience. Tours begin at the Celtista Area, between gates 14 and 15.

Getting there is straightforward: several bus lines serve the Balaídos area, and the stadium is also reachable on foot from the city centre in about thirty minutes.

Set in a busy residential neighbourhood, Balaídos is surrounded by bars and restaurants along Avenida do Fragoso and Avenida da Florida. Match tickets can be bought online or at the stadium box office, usually available around a week before kick-off.
