Estadio de Balaídos

Abanca Balaídos has been home to Celta Vigo since 1928. The ground sits in the Lavadores district and has changed a great deal over the years. It opened with an athletics track and modest stands, then was rebuilt over the decades, including for the 1982 World Cup, when it hosted 3 matches of the Squadra Azzurra.

Balaídos began a gradual upgrade in 2015: the stands were moved closer to the pitch, a new roof went up, and a rippling blue "wave" façade was added. The Marcador, Río and Tribuna stands were rebuilt from the ground up. A final phase of work is still underway on the Gol side. The aim is much greater comfort, with capacity brought down to around 31,800 seats.

The stadium runs guided tours that take in the RC Celta museum, the changing rooms, the tunnel, the pitchside, the press room and a virtual reality experience. The tour starts at the Celtista Area, between gates 14 and 15.

Getting there is easy. Several bus lines serve the Balaídos area, and you can also walk from the city centre in about thirty minutes.

Balaídos sits in a lively residential district, with plenty of bars and restaurants along l'Avenida do Fragoso and l'Avenida da Florida. Match tickets are sold online or at the stadium box office about a week before kickoff.
