About the stadium
The Estadio de Gran Canaria is UD Las Palmas' home ground. It is the main football facility in Las Palmas. Opened on 8 May 2003 with a match against Anderlecht, it replaced the old Estadio Insular and brought the city a more modern, island-scale infrastructure.
The stadium holds around 32,000 to 32,400 spectators, with a standard pitch measuring 105 x 68 metres. When it opened, it included an athletics track, as was common for multi-use stadiums of that era. The track was removed during the 2015-2016 season to bring supporters closer to the pitch and improve the atmosphere in the stands.
The ground is owned by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and sits in the Siete Palmas district, on the outskirts of the city.
The stadium is closely tied to UD Las Palmas' recent trajectory. The club was founded in 1949 to organise local football and give Gran Canaria's clubs access to national competition. Its golden era came at the old ground, including a second-place finish in La Liga in 1969. The Gran Canaria has since witnessed the Amarillos' return to La Liga in the 2010s and 2020s.
Stadium tours run in small groups of around 15 people and offer a closer look at the club. They last approximately one hour and are led by a specialist guide, with access to areas normally off-limits to the public: dressing rooms, the players' tunnel, the pitch-side, the press room, the mixed zone, and VIP boxes.
The tour also includes a virtual reality experience simulating the players' walk-out onto the pitch before kick-off. Some packages offer enhanced visits, with former players in attendance or access to hospitality areas on matchdays.
