About the stadium
La Rosaleda, Málaga's main stadium, is a reference point for Andalusian football. Opened in 1941, it has grown alongside the club and the city: initial capacity of 8,000, extended in stages to around 29,000 following a major renovation in the 2000s.
Located north of the city centre, about a twenty-minute walk away, it has hosted Málaga football for over 80 years. Liga matches, Copa del Rey ties, Champions League nights, and three games at the 1982 World Cup, played by Scotland, New Zealand and the USSR.
The ground has four stands: Fondo Sur (home to the main supporter section), Fondo Norte, Tribuna and Preferencia. The official club shop is located on the south stand side.
La Rosaleda also offers a museum and guided tour, giving access to the VIP area, press room, players' tunnel, dugouts and the pitch. The tour covers over 100 years of football in Málaga through trophies, club memorabilia and archive material.
The stadium is at the centre of a renovation project tied to the 2030 World Cup: capacity is set to rise to around 45,000 with the addition of a third tier, a roof covering all stands, and a redesigned exterior.
