About the stadium

Nuevo Los Cármenes is the home ground of Granada CF. It sits in the Zaidín district, in the south of the city. The stadium opened on 16 May 1995 with a friendly between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen (1-0), built to replace the original Los Cármenes and to support the city's hosting of the 1996 Alpine Ski World Championships.

Current capacity stands at 22,524 seats, following the addition of corner stands in 2011, when the club returned to Liga.

The architecture is straightforward and typically Spanish, with clear sightlines throughout. From the upper tiers, the Sierra Nevada is visible on the horizon. The Fondo Sur end houses Granada's most vocal supporters, who make their presence felt on match nights.

The ground has hosted several Spain national team matches, including the Spain–Czech Republic fixture in 2011 when David Villa became the Roja's all-time leading scorer.

The stadium is set in a quiet residential area, with good bus and tram connections (stop: Nuevo Los Cármenes). A handful of bars and restaurants around the ground cater to supporters on matchdays.

Granada CF offers an interactive stadium tour that includes access to areas normally off-limits: dressing rooms, the tunnel, mixed zone, pitchside, and hospitality boxes, along with virtual reality experiences. It works well as a family outing for anyone interested in the red-and-white club's history.
