About the stadium

The Etihad Stadium opened in 2002 for the Commonwealth Games and became the home of Manchester City in 2003. Sitting east of Manchester city centre, it now forms the centrepiece of the Etihad Campus.

The Sky Blues' ground holds more than 55,000, with an elliptical design and steeply raked stands. An extension currently underway is set to push capacity past 60,000 over the coming years.

The stadium is easy to reach from central Manchester by tram (Etihad Campus stop), on foot or by bus. Major redevelopment work is ongoing, including an expansion of the North Stand, new catering areas and even a hotel built into the complex.

On non-matchdays, the Etihad can be explored through several guided tours lasting 75 to 90 minutes. The stadium tour takes you into the dressing rooms, the warm-up area, the players' tunnel, the dugouts and pitchside. Visitors can also sit in the press room and interact virtually with Pep Guardiola, or take in a virtual reality experience called "Beyond the Blue Moon".

It's full of surprises and stories about the Citizens, and a must for any football fan passing through the city.

If you’re into football or just a bit curious about what happens behind the scenes this tour is really worth it. The Manchester City Stadium Tour has a great vibe from the start and you quickly feel like you’re stepping into the world of a top club. Walking through the players’ tunnel sitting in the dressing room and seeing the pitch up close is genuinely exciting and gives you that “wow” moment. The guides are easygoing and know their stuff and they share stories that make everything feel more real not just like a standard tour. Everything is well set up modern and interactive so it keeps your attention the whole time. It’s enjoyable whether you go on your own with friends or even with kids. No matter who you support it’s a really cool experience and definitely worth the money. If you’re in Manchester it’s something you shouldn’t skip.

Visiting the tour at Etihad Stadium is an outstanding experience and a must for any football fan. From the moment you arrive, everything feels professionally run, welcoming, and genuinely exciting. The guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about Manchester City, which makes the whole tour feel personal rather than scripted. Walking through the players’ tunnel and stepping pitch-side is unforgettable—you really get a sense of matchday atmosphere. The dressing rooms, press area, and behind-the-scenes access all add to the feeling that you’re seeing parts of the club most people never do. The interactive displays and multimedia features are a great touch and keep the experience engaging from start to finish. Overall, it’s a brilliant, well-organized tour that offers great value and leaves you with a real appreciation for the club and stadium. Highly recommended whether you’re a City supporter or just love football.

Arrived an hour early but was let in , on 10am tour . Realy enjoyed it and tour guide knew his stuff . I had already done utd tour the day before , and was asked what was the best one . Utd wins hands down on the museum side of it , but city building there museum at present . Will say city wins hands down , regarding dressing room . So that's a draw , Also I do prefer oasis to simply red , so two , one to city . But the main men , best and lawand Charlton played for utd . Impressive stadium, ground & facilities. Great food & good selection of drinks ,hot cold & alcohol. Smooth entry & thorough security checks which is positive for everyone's safety.Stewards had a sense of humour. Appreciated short walk to coaches from away end as rain bucketed down. A great evening of football, would have been better if we won! Come on the Bees!
