About the stadium
A landmark of Italian football, San Siro – officially named Giuseppe Meazza – is the stadium shared by AC Milan and Inter Milan. Located in the west of Milan, in the neighbourhood of the same name, it is considered one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.
Inaugurated in 1926 at the initiative of AC Milan president Piero Pirelli, San Siro was designed exclusively for football, with no athletics track. Initially owned by AC Milan, the stadium was purchased by the city of Milan in 1935 and also became home to Inter from 1947. Renamed in 1980 in honour of Giuseppe Meazza – a legend who represented both clubs and a two-time World Cup winner – the stadium is still widely known by its historic nickname: La Scala del Calcio, the "temple of football".
With 75,000 seats, its cylindrical towers and the imposing roof added for the 1990 World Cup, San Siro delivers an outstanding atmosphere, especially during the Derby della Madonnina, the clash between the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri.
It has hosted major events including the 1934 and 1990 World Cups, Euro 1980, and several Champions League finals, including those of 2001 and 2016.
In November 2025, the two Milan clubs became co-owners of the stadium, paving the way for the construction of a new state-of-the-art complex in the same neighbourhood, due to open in 2031. The project, designed by Foster + Partners and Manica, will include a 71,500-seat stadium and a large public park, while preserving certain historic elements of San Siro.

Visitors can explore the behind-the-scenes areas of the ground through a guided tour that includes the San Siro Museum and several spaces normally reserved for players and media. The tour takes in the dressing rooms, the players' tunnel, the dugouts and the mixed zone.
The museum displays a selection of shirts worn by great players from both Milan clubs, such as Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi, along with numerous artefacts connected to the history of Italian football.
Guided tours are available in Italian and English. An additional option also allows visitors to access the roof of the stadium via the "Skywalk", situated 55 metres above the ground.
