About the stadium

Craven Cottage sits on the bank of the Thames and carries something of old English football with it. Opened in 1896, this 29,600-seat ground is the home of Fulham FC, London's oldest professional club. With its red-brick Victorian facade, wooden seats and famous corner pavilion (the "Cottage" designed by Scottish architect Archibald Leitch), the place belongs to a different era.

Despite recent renovations, including the striking Riverside stand that now extends out over the river, Craven Cottage has held on to its character. There is nothing oversized or overdesigned here. People come for the football, the quiet atmosphere, and the chants that bounce between the Johnny Haynes Stand and the Hammersmith End.

The ground is easy to reach from Putney Bridge station (District Line), with a pleasant walk through Bishops Park along the Thames to the main entrance on Stevenage Road, a route that has become a matchday ritual for regular supporters.

Whether you're attending a Cottagers match or joining a guided tour through the dressing rooms and down the players' tunnel, Craven Cottage is a worthwhile stop for any football fan in London: a historic, intimate ground where the game still feels thoroughly British.
