About the stadium

Located in north-west London, Wembley is the home of English football. Built on the site of the old Empire Stadium and opened in 2007, it holds 90,000 spectators, making it the largest stadium in the United Kingdom.

Its defining feature is a 133-metre arch, visible for miles around and engineered to support the roof without a single internal pillar, giving every seat an unobstructed view of the pitch.

Wembley hosts England national team matches and the country's major cup finals: the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Community Shield, and the English Football League play-offs. It has also staged major international events, including the Euro 2020 final, the Champions League finals of 2011, 2013 and 2024, and the 2012 London Olympics.

The stadium's use extends well beyond football: it has hosted concerts, NFL games, rugby matches, and boxing bouts. Notable events include the Live Aid concert in 1985 and tours by artists such as Queen, Adele, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, and Oasis.

The Wembley Stadium Tour takes visitors behind the scenes, including the England dressing rooms, the players' tunnel, the pitchside area, and the press conference room. The Royal Box, used during official ceremonies and trophy presentations, is also part of the route.

Guided tours run between 75 and 90 minutes. They depart from Level 1 of the stadium, near the statue of Bobby Moore. The route is wheelchair accessible and includes several exhibitions on the history of the stadium and English football.
